It seems that some users of the IPHA trash facility do not understand what "Corrugated Cardboard Only" means and have been, perhaps with the best of intentions, placing trash in that dumpster. When you do this, you assume that the recycle employees don't mind separating your trash from the recyclable material. Well they do and management is unhappy - threatening to fine the subdivision or remove the service. Apparently we are among the most agregious offenders in the county. The casual distribution of the lock combination and infrequent changes contributes to the use of our facility by people who don't really care (at our expense) and with no consequence.
The responsibility lies with each of us to observe the policies for using the trash facility. If there is no room for your trash in the designated dumpsters, leave it on the floor - not in the recycle container. Don't leave it outside the building. Be sure the lock is closed and the tumblers scrambled. Making it easy for anyone to access the facility defeats the purpose of the lock and ultimately raises the cost of trash disposal.
Look for a change to the combination in the near future. It will be posted on the member site on the Trash page. (Register or login to access).
The lock has been recently serviced and seems to be working well. If you have problems with the lock or suspect the facility is being used inappropriately contact:
